I finished a short film in collaboration with dancer and choreographer Brittany Bailey. To be released February 14th, 2017.
Staged around Manhattan's Upper West Side, Slow Shapes reveals the nervous oscillation and alienating presence of driving cars and commuting peoples in contrast to dancer Brittany Bailey's slow-moving body. As Bailey uses sidewalks and roadside monuments for a stage, her body creates improvised shapes utilizing the negative space between limbs, concrete, vehicles, and locals walking to where they are going.
Brittany Bailey is a dancer and choreographer living in New York City. She has trained with Merce Cunningham, and worked with Marina Abramović, Michael Clark, Yvonne Rainer, Robert Wilson, Mark Fell, Christopher Knowles, and the Whirling Dervishes of the Mevlevi Order.

I recently completed my first film.
TIN, WATER, RED EARTH is a documentary about the maiolica ceramic folk-art tradition in a coastal town south of Naples called Vietri sul Mare. All studio observation was shot in Ceramica Pinto, a company owned by the Pinto family that has sustained for over 150 years. The film explores themes of memory, fetishization of the object, tradition, mythology, the act of looking, and the unbreakable connection between the people of Vietri and the natural geography they inhabit. Moments in daily life are captured and edited into a montage that brings the viewer closer to the people and place it conveys.
